The readers Genesis poll results - July 1993. Compiled by Peter Morton.
With all the recent studio and live releases by the band, we at The Waiting Room thought this was the ideal time to run our second readers’ Genesis poll.
Firstly I would like to thank all of those who returned the voting sheet - the response was overwhelming!
For four of the five categories I gave 10 points for position number 1, and 9 points for position number 2 etc… Only on the favourite live album category did I give 5 points for position 1 and 4 for position number 2 etc…
The A Trick Of The Tail album featured heavily on a large number of people’s lists, so not surprisingly it was voted number one album, and favourite album sleeve in the poll. Supper’s Ready is still way out in front as favourite song, as was Seconds Out as favourite live album. It is marvellous to see Anthony Phillips get the support he so richly deserves, against strong opposition I may add, by making fifth place in the favourite other artist/group category. In conclusion, it must be very satisfying for the members of Genesis to read how popular their music that was written in the early to mid Seventies in particular still is with the fans!
Once again, many thanks to all of you who entered. Here are the results.
