Just as details of gigs from this period are hard to piece together, the set lists played by the band at these early gigs are equally hard to detail but from the information provided by both Anthony Phillips and Tony Banks, it is likely that the following songs were performed during the band’s usual 30- 45 minute slot: In The Beginning/The Serpent/Pacidy/Key To Love/Visions Of Angels/Going Out To Get You/Stagnation/ Little Leaf/The Knife. Sadly, no audio visual record survives of any of the above gigs although a BBC training film of the band performing In Hiding was made at the BBC training college in Ewell by Brian Roberts in 1968. Sadly, this like the subsequent Disco Two and Atomic Sunrise Festival performances, from 1970, appears to have been lost. My thanks to Anthony Phillips, Tony Banks and Jonathan Dann for their help with this feature and to Anthony Hobkinson for the photos of the elusive early singles and album.
Trivia Moment: The building that housed Regent Studios on Denmark Street where
Genesis recorded the album later became the base for SAF Publishing who published
“Opening The Musical Box - A Genesis Chronicle” by a certain editor!
